Coming to Iran
Iranian Steel Industry
Although Iranian economy focuses on petroleum exploitation, its steel industry is also well developed. Iran’s crude steel production has seen an annual growth rate of 6%-10% in recent years. Crude steel output in Iran has reached 15.42 million tonnes in 2013, rising by 6.6% from that of 2012, ranking the fifteenth across the world.  Mohammad Jafar Sarqini, the Iranian deputy industry minister announced recently that the country plans to lift its crude steel production to 65 million tonnes before the year of 2025. Iran will be a self-sufficient steel producer in the next years, the vice chairman of the Association of Iranian Steel Producers has said.
Iranian Iron Ore Mining
Iran is one of the most important iron ore producers in west Asia. Its crude ore and Fe content reserves stand at 2.5 billion tonnes and 1.4 billion tonnes respectively, accounting for 1.47% and 1.75% of the total and ranking the twelfth and eleventh separately in the world. Iranian iron ore has high content of silicon & large particle size, which also holds price advantages compared with other mainstream iron ore. Iranian mining industry is mainly controlled by state-owned capital. Iran Central Iron Ore Company, Gol Gohar Iron Ore Company, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company, MOBIN Co. and Sangan are top mining companies in Iran.
